Vladimir Putin to respond "ultra-rapidly" to those who intervene in the conflict with Ukraine

The Russian president does not rule out the use of nuclear weapons.

Russian President Vladimir Putin promised on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, that if necessary, his country will respond "ultra-rapidly" to anyone who tries to intervene in the conflict with Ukraine. This will also apply to nations that become a "threat" to his country.

"If someone intends to interfere in the ongoing events (invasion) from outside and create a strategic threat nature, they should know that our response to counterattacks will be ultra-fast," Putin said, speaking at a meeting with lawmakers, Russian news agency Interfax reported.

Putin added that Russia has "all the tools" to respond. "Those that no one can now boast about. And we will not boast. We will use them if necessary and I want everyone to know," he stressed, referring to nuclear weapons.

The Russian president insisted that the objectives of the "special military operation" - the Russian euphemism for invasion - "will be fulfilled unconditionally" and stressed that it is aimed at "ensuring the security of the residents of Donetsk, Luhansk, Russian Crimea and all Russia in the historical perspective".

In addition, Putin assured that the Russian invasion has averted "a real danger that was already looming" over Russia. "With courage, determination and heroism a large-scale conflict that would have developed on our territory, but according to someone else's scenarios, has been prevented," he said.

As for the sanctions imposed by the allied countries in retaliation for the invasion, the Russian president has indicated that the attempt to "economically strangle" Russia "has failed."
