She completed her piano studies at the Tallinn College of Music (specializing as a concert pianist and piano teacher) with professors Ülle Sisa and Lembit Orgse in 1998. During the continuation of her studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, she decided to specialize in opera singing, graduating in 2007 with the degree of Magister Artium. <br> <br>After a few years of teaching singing, Katrin continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she earned her second Master of Arts degree in 2012 in the field of musical dramatic interpretation. Katrin studied with Claudia Visca, Paul Esterhazy, Reto Nickler and Christoph U. Meier. She gained further artistic impulses in masterclasses and private studies with Maria Acda, David Aronson, Grace Bumbry, Huw James, Walter Moore, Bojidar Nikolov, Kristin Okerlund, Rudolf Piernay, James Pearson, Anna Niedbala and Jean-Ronald LaFond. <br> <br>Katrin Targo has been awarded the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship in Tallinn (Estonia) in 2007, the Mart Saar Singing Competition in Suure-Jaani (Estonia) in 2008, the Johannes Brahms Singing Competition in Pörtschach (Austria) in 2012, the Imrich Godin International Singing Competition in Vrable (Slovakia) in 2014 and the Antonín Dvořák Competition in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic) in 2014. In addition to the main awards, she has often received special awards for best performances. In 2016 she was the only female laureate, receiving third prize in the 39th Lyndon Woodside Oratorio Competition at Carnegie Hall in New York. Katrin Targo picked up her first stage experience in opera as a member of the Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir, the Arnold Schönberg Choir and the Vienna State Opera Extra Choir. He made his operatic debut as a soloist singing Hänsel in Humperdincks Hänsel Gretel, performed on the stage of the Estonian Puppet Theater. This was followed by gala concerts in Estonia and Finland, engagements as Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare in Egitto) at the Estonian National Opera, and as Ilia and Belinda in productions at the Vienna University of Music. Ms. Targos operatic repertoire includes Targos operatic repertoire includes the roles of Pamina and Erste Dame (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Donna Anna (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Frau Fluth (Nicolai: Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor), Giulietta (Bellini: I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Juliet (Gounod: Romeo and Juliet), Belinda (Purcell: Dido and Aeneas), Cleopatra (Handel: Giulio Cesare in Egitto), Musetta (Puccini: La Bohème), Lauretta (Puccini: Gianni Schicchi) and Tatyana (Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin). Katrin is a sought-after oratorio soloist and sings regularly at Viennas St. Stephens Cathedral, Viennas St. Francis and St. Augustine churches, and elsewhere in Europe. In May 2014 she made her debut in the Bach-Cantata cycle at the Vienna Concert House (Wiener Konzerthaus). In addition, he performs with the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Residence and Hofburg Orchestras. In addition to opera and oratorio, her repertoire includes operetta and Wienerlied. In 2017 she will sing Esther in the childrens opera Noahs Ark and the roles of Donna Anna (Mozart: Don Giovanni), and Konstanze (Mozart: Entführung aus dem Serail) in productions in Vienna. Concert tours will take her through France and Germany in 2017, and also to Brazil and the United States in 2018. Katrin will make her debut at the Neue Oper Wien in early 2018 as the female lead Dede in the chamber version of Bernsteins opera A Quiet Place. Ukrainian shelling hits oil depot in Donetsk region – officials
Four oil reservoir tanks are ablaze after Ukrainian forces allegedly shelled the city of Makeyevka in the Donetsk Republic, local authorities reported Wednesday.
The territorial defense forces of the DPR claimed one person was killed in the attack and two more injured. However, local authorities described this information as “preliminary” in a statement posted on Telegram.
The message also says that each tank could contain up to 5,000 cubic meters of oil. Ukrainian media reports the oil depot was providing Russian forces with fuel.
