Now, of course, in the age of *fact checkers* science is simply marketing, it is an organ of state domination. Take for example: people are sold on the dangers of too much sun. They buy suntan lotion. For centuries the idea of sun was one of purification, of health, of vitality and even of optimism. It was a symbol of affirmation. ‘On the sunny side of the street….’. But be sure to slather chemical lotion on you to stop that life giving light. Put a mask on, to, because other people might be on that street."

"The modern individual (for Marx) coincided with the rise of markets in which the owners of commodities were able to exchange their commodities (the qualities of) for quantities of the general equivalent. Modern subjectivity is deeply wedded to this emergence. But the idea of human psychic evolution is complex. Children like to, often, go off by themselves and climb trees or explore terrain unfamiliar to them. City kids do their own version of this only in abandoned buildings etc. And younger children will often find a place, sometimes in a tree, or in a grotto, where they themselves feel they can’t be seen. And in their silence they day dream. This is a familiar experience from everyone’s childhood (I think everyone). Now, these younger children have less developed vocabularies. They cannot articulate what they feel. And again, childhood amnesia looms as a profound riddle. But older children may have enough of a vocabulary to explain or describe what they felt alone in that tree. But it is always but a very partial description. For that sense of freedom, of aloneness, and usually quiet, is the other part of religious experience. I have said before that religion comes out of theatre, not the other way round. But that is partial, too, for this aspect of taking oneself away from the world has deep roots that probably go back to the early hunter gatherer communities. For the child brings that experience back to the home or community. Silently. As men return from war, often silently, with a different and traumatic experience. Victims of violence bring that experience back to the home or society. And there are no words for this. And it is EXACTLY BECAUSE there are no words that it has such deep resonance. Is it possible that this unworded resonance is a deeper form of memory? Or rather another register of memory? The pre history of the child in a sense. Childhood amnesia is actually another kind of remembering?

It is possible that this silent emotion of freedom is a basic building block of the human. And to watch children with smart phones is disturbing, even if just intuitively, because we know, we sense, something is being stolen from them."

US Looks Into Deaths Linked to Baby Formula

US authorities have launched investigations into the deaths of at least nine infants since early 2021, all of whom had allegedly consumed Abbott Nutrition baby formula before becoming ill and eventually passing away, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed.

Until recently, the FDA had only acknowledged two fatal cases, and two more where infants had fallen ill after ingesting the formula manufactured at an Abbott Nutrition plant in Sturgis, Michigan.

The watchdog believes the formula may have been contaminated with the cronobacter sakazakii bacterium.

Muscovites try the new Russian-owned McDonald's

Hundreds of Muscovites attended the re-branded McDonald's restaurants, which finally reopened as "Vkusno i Tochka" ("Tasty and that's it" in Russian).

The first 15 restaurants of the chain, counting over 850 branches in 62 regions, reopened on Russia Day. The new owner Alexander Govor pledged to reopen all of the restaurants nationwide within one month.

On March 14, the US fast-food giant suspended its operations in the country, in response to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Later in May, McDonald's definitively left the Russian market and sold its business to Govor, who owned some of the franchised restaurants in Siberia.

Dogecoin down nearly 92% since Elon Musk SNL appearance

On May 8 2021, billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared on “Saturday Night Live” after having tweeted about cryptocurrency Dogecoin for months. Since that appearance, the digital asset is down nearly 92%.

Dogecoin’s value peaked right before the show aired on the expectation that Musk, who had become known as a doge bull, might plug the coin, sending it higher, or “to the moon.” Musk did talk about it during the Weekend Update segment – he was asked repeatedly by hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost what it was – which led to the punchline that dogecoin was “a hustle.”

West Wants to ‘Absolve’ Itself From its Own Crimes - Serbia

It is not in Serbia’s interests to reduce cooperation with Russia and to “absolve” the West of its crimes, the interior minister says

Serbia says it is not interested in diminishing its “closeness and cooperation” with Moscow, adding that by trying to force Belgrade to impose sanctions on Russia, the West simply seeks to “absolve” itself from its own crimes.

In an interview with the newspaper Novosti published on Sunday, Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that throughout history, Serbs have always been “expected to do something for others” and to neglect their own interests.
