Who would have thought that in Australia 2021, individuals could be discriminated against based on their vaccination status?
For a vaccine that was only given emergency authorisation due to their being a pandemic. This new vaccine is still within clinical trials and has been causing extensive adverse reactions since it was first administered to individuals.
Who would have thought that in Australia 2021, a university could deny a student their bachelor’s degree that they worked so hard over the last 3 years to obtain?
Denied not due to marks. No. Denied due to the individuals vaccination status.
Let me fill you in on my recent experience with University of Technology Sydney, where I have been a student for the last 3 years.
My name is Brooke O’Brien, I’m 29 years old, living on the northern beaches in Sydney. I was working as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse for NSW Health for the last 5 years.
I’ve also been studying a Bachelor of Nursing at UTS since 2018. I was due to finish my degree December 2021, spring semester. I was enrolled in my last 3 remaining subjects to complete.
2 out of the 3 subjects required practical labs as a part of the subject. However due to COVID-19 restrictions and the lockdowns, all classes were held via zoom during the semester. All content was learnt by pre-class activities online and by reading relevant articles or textbooks along with the zoom classes. As a result, intensive lab days were organised for students to learn the practical skills on campus at UTS.
Intensive lab days were self-allocated online by each student, then UTS sent out an email stating that only students who lived in an area of concern needed to have 1 dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine and upload the evidence to UTS. Then another email was sent out stating that the allocated intensive lab days were cancelled, and this was due to all students needing to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and to upload evidence of vaccination and then students would be allocated intensive lab days.
When I received the email, I emailed my subject coordinators asking if there was any alternate option as I didn’t want to have the COVID-19 vaccine due to concerns I had with potential adverse reactions and due to it still being within clinical trials. Both subject coordinators replied to my email with a response such as only students who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 will be allocated for intensive lab days.
I then emailed the director of undergraduate studies for nursing and midwifery and explained the issue along with reasons as to why I did not wish to have the COVID-19 vaccine. At this time, I was quite stressed and was practically a mess, my dad passed away from colorectal cancer aged 44 years old.
Desperate to get lab allocations, I offered to have a COVID-19 swab within 3 days of labs and to provide negative swab results upon entry to labs. I received a response back stating she was sorry to hear about my dad and that all students needed to be vaccinated for UTS to allocate labs. She also stated that in the event that I do not get vaccinated, I will not progress in the subjects that required intensive labs and I would not be able to finish my degree.
I had finished all subjects, all assessments, exams, and clinical placement hours, all I needed was to be allowed on campus to attend 3 x 7hour lab days on campus at UTS.
When the results were released for spring subjects, I was completely devastated to find that UTS failed me on the 2 subjects that required the intensive lab days on campus despite having passable marks. One subject mark was 73/100 and the other subject 82/100.
From day 1 of Covid, we were banned from asking questions.
We couldn't ask why early treatment was denied.
We couldn't share evidence that masks didn't work.
We couldn't ask why Remdesivir, with a 53.1% mortality rate during the 2019 Ebola trials was mandated as the only inpatient medication that could be used for Covid patients.
We couldn't question the safety or efficacy of the jabs.
We were insulted. We were censored. We were kicked off Facebook and Twitter.
Now we know why... asking questions requires answers they didn't want to give. It was all a con... and they are getting billions...
