Haiti Capital Gang Violence Cuts Food Aid - UN
After over 50 people were killed due to horrific gang violence sweeping Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince, the UN says it has been forced to evacuate aid agency workers to other areas.
Food inflation in the impoverished Caribbean island nation has pushed 52% with violence in further strangling efforts to reach those in desperate need as Port-au-Prince has been effectively cut off from the rest of the country.
Humanitarian aid has been delivered by air and ferries to try and circumvent the gangs, but World Food Programme director Jean-Martin Bauer fears the crisis will force a sharp rise in attempted US-bound migration by sea.
