'Colonial Hostilities': Jamaican protesters demand apology from the royal family
A coalition of Jamaican activists, politicians and businessmen have called upon the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to atone for colonialism during their Caribbean tour.
In an open letter to the royal couple, ‘Advocates Network’ claimed there’s “no reason to celebrate 70 years of the ascension of your grandmother to the British throne because her leadership, and that of her predecessors, has perpetuated the greatest human rights tragedy in the history of humankind.”
The campaigners have demanded the British monarchy pay reparations for the “exploitation of the indigenous people of Jamaica… the enslavement of Africans”, and planned to stage protests over the royal visit to the country.
