Shuttered Transgender Clinic Could Face Mass Lawsuit - report
The controversial Tavistock UK clinic - which prescribed powerful puberty-blocking drugs to teenagers - is facing ‘a number of detransitioners who are considering legal action’ after claims effects of the drugs were ‘fully reversible’ lack evidence.
The legal action could claim patients could not give informed consent as they were under 16 - or that the drugs damaged youngsters. “Far too many children have been left with physical and emotional scars from decisions we should never have let them make”, one expert therapist told the Daily Mail.
A spox for hospital chiefs defended the treatments, stating, “The Trust is proud of its Gender Identity Development Service, which for 30 years has been providing support to children … experiencing difficulties around their gender identity development.”
