At Least 32 Members of UK Government Have Quit in Past 24 Hours as Boris Johnson Vows to Fight On
More than 30 members of Boris Johnson’s Government have resigned as pressure mounts on the Prime Minister to step down.
Minister for exports and minister for equalities Mike Freer was the latest to quit, telling Boris Johnson “I can no longer defend policies I fundamentally disagree with."
While Tory Ministers Kemi Badenoch, Julia Lopez, Mims Davies, Lee Rowley, Neil O'Brien and Alex Burghart announced at the same time on Wednesday (July 6) afternoon they were quitting—following a string of resignations from ministers and ministerial aides in the morning. Senior member of the cabinet Michael Gove is also reported to have told the PM to quit.
Some 32 government resignations have taken place in the past 24 hours.
