I feel so lucky to have you guys in my corner and I want to say a HUGE thankyou.
It simply wouldn't be possible to do what I do without you.
Do you remember when I paid for the rental and operation of a professional sound system for the Treasury Gardens protest on the 27th of November 2021? It was about $12,500 for the professional system, the truck, two generators, three people to set it up, operate it, and pack it down... It was a huge personal risk from the family bank account!!!
But someone had to do it... the HUGE rally a week earlier on the 20th had been frustrating for many people because they simply could not hear the speakers and many people further back in the HUGE crowd went home disappointed.
I wasn't going to let that happen again, but I also couldn't afford to foot the bill for the sound system myself!
But I had faith in all of you and everyone that was coming to the protest, and we asked people to buy an 'I Was There' tee shirt to help cover the cost of the sound system, and as I showed in a Slow Chat soon afterwards, we got enough 'I Was There' tee shirt sales to almost fully cover the cost of the sound system!
And better yet, EVERYONE could hear, crystal clear, and people reported still being able to hear and understand what was said from over 500meters away in the gardens!!!
It's a truly wonderful thing to be able to step in and take risks to meet needs... and know that I'm not out there on my own.
Last month I took another leap of faith.
I made the decision to release the Battleground Melbourne DVD to try and maximise the number of people who WATCH it before the Nov election.
I ALSO decided it was time to improve the print quality of my shirts to the latest and best technology... something that stretches with the shirt and is so durable that the print will usually out-last the garment it's printed on!
But those two decisions meant an up-front investment of over $9,000 to pay for things like graphic design, the 'glass master' DVD for replicating, 500 DVD copies, and enough pre-printed transfers for 500 garments in the 'Battleground Melbourne' and 'Good People Break Bad Laws' styles.
I knew that a lot of you wanted the DVDs, and I really wanted to improve the quality of my shirts and hoodies... so I took the plunge and spent the money...
And already you guys have repaid my leap of faith with over $7,500 in sales in just a bit over a week, meaning I'm well on my way to recouping my investment and all going well I'll soon be able to stop sleeping in the dog-house!!! (Seriously it's cold out here... let me in!!!)
It's one thing to be able to put content online and to try and help people with information, humour, and online community. It's another thing altogether to have the opportunity to take action in the physical world, to meet needs and offer tools that help people to make a difference in the real world.
And I simply wouldn't be able to do it without you, so from the bottom of my heart, thankyou.
