South Korean Freedom Convoy - Truckers Enter 3rd Day Of Strike
Around 7,200 members of South Korea’s Cargo Truckers Solidarity union were joined by thousands more for a third day of strikes Thursday in protest at sharply spiking fuel prices. Police have made more than two dozen arrests.
Authorities at Busan Port - the world’s seventh largest - say the container occupancy rate is up from 73.9% 2 days ago to 76.3% as supply chain disruption tightens on steel, automotive and other industries.
One senior union leader claimed truckers are paying almost their entire month’s salary in extra fuel costs at a time when South Korea is experiencing its worst inflation in 14 years.
