Queensland MP Trevor John Perrett was charged on February 17 last year with eight counts of indecent treatment of girls under 16, 16 counts of indecent treatment of girls under 17 and one count of rape. The charges were laid by the Townsville Child Protection Investigation Unit Historical Team.

Inquiries this week revealed that an initial case presentation was then held in the Brisbane District Court on December 19, 2021, where the charges were dismissed.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said: “A determination was made that in light of a number of evidential issues the prosecution did not have reasonable prospects of success.”
