Stunned by UFOs, "Exasperated" U.S. Fighter Pilots Get Little Help From Pentagon
In April 2014, four naval aviators narrowly escaped disaster. Just as they entered highly controlled airspace for a training exercise, their two F/A-18F fighter jets nearly collided with an unidentified flying object (UFO). To the frustration of dozens of their fellow aviators, such a near-catastrophe was inevitable.
For months before and after the incident, aircrews flying in “exclusive use” training areas off the U.S. East Coast frequently observed unknown objects exhibiting highly anomalous flight characteristics. Despite the collision hazard posed by the UFOs, aviators lacked a formal mechanism to report the mysterious objects.
With aviation safety alerts as their only recourse, frustrated aviators and their commanders noted that the UFOs pose “a severe threat to Naval Aviation” and a “critical risk” to flight safety. Just days before the April 2014 incident, the squadron’s exasperated commander wrote that “it is only a matter of time before this results in a midair [collision].” A few weeks earlier, the skipper of another East Coast squadron warned, “I feel it may only be a matter of time before one of our F/A-18 aircraft has a mid-air collision.”
Despite the frequency of the encounters and the severity of the hazard, it took the Navy five years to adopt a formal UFO reporting structure. The first batch of these reports, heavily redacted and spanning only a few months in 2019, makes clear that the U.S. government faces a significant challenge.

"Why the Rush for Toddler Vaccines?" Asks Wall Street Journal Editorial Board Member
???@COVID19Up: A Wall Street Journal (WSJ) editorial board member Monday (July 4) called (https://www.wsj.com/articles/w....hy-the-rush-for-todd question the motives behind the U.S. FDA's decision (https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/17..../health/fda-vaccine- to extend Emergency Use Authorization of Pfizer and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines to toddlers and infants as young as 6 months old.
In her WSJ opinion piece—“Why the Rush for Toddler Vaccines?”—Allysia Finley wrote:
“The FDA standard for approving vaccines in otherwise healthy people, especially children, is supposed to be higher than for drugs that treat the sick. But the FDA conspicuously lowered its standards to approve COVID vaccines for toddlers. Why?”
Finley started her piece with a quote from President Biden, which praised the FDA’s recommendation: “This is a very historic milestone. The United States is now the first country in the world to offer safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as six months old.”
She responded, writing, “In fact, we don’t know if the vaccines are safe and effective.”
“The rushed FDA action was based on extremely weak evidence. It’s one thing to show regulatory flexibility during an emergency. But for children, Covid isn’t an emergency. The FDA bent its standards to an unusual degree and brushed aside troubling evidence that warrants more investigation.”
As to why the FDA “rushed” and “bent its standards,” Finley suggested, “perhaps [the FDA] felt pressure from the White House as well as anxious parents.”

Zelensky’s Court Bans Another Ukrainian Opposition Party, Bringing the Total Number of Outlawed Political Groups to 15
A Ukrainian court on Tuesday (July 5) banned the country’s Communist Party (CPU), marking the end of an eight-year saga, and adding the communists to the blacklist of now 15 allegedly ‘pro-Russian’ political movements that are outlawed in Ukraine.
The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in the western city of Lviv announced that “the activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine are prohibited.”
“Funds and other assets” of the party will be nationalized.
Attempts to ban the party started in 2014, when the acting president at the time, Aleksandr Turchinov, ordered a review into the CPU’s activities. He did not rule out the possibility of banning it over its alleged involvement in protests in the eastern parts of the country after the violent Western-backed coup in Kiev overthrew the democratically-elected government.

The Mysterious Billionaire Behind Jeffrey Epstein Gets the Documentary Treatment
How did Jeffrey Epstein amass his vast wealth? Yes, the late money manager rubbed shoulders with everyone from Bill Gates and Bill Clinton to Prince Andrew and Donald Trump, but as the new Hulu docuseries Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons (July 14) contends, one of the certified creep’s biggest money sources was none other than billionaire Les Wexner.
Wexner, a slight man with elfin-like features, was hardly a paragon of posh. Despite being the man behind retail behemoth L Brands—whose portfolio at one point included retailers The Limited, Abercrombie & Fitch, Express, Lane Bryant, Henri Bendel, Bath & Body Works, and Victoria’s Secret—Wexner maintained a relatively low profile in his native Ohio, far from the prying lenses of the paparazzi.
That all seemed to change around the time Epstein entered his life in the mid-1980s. Wexner dyed his hair and upgraded his wardrobe. His soirees were now attended by Epstein’s roster of celebrity acquaintances. In 1985, Wexner graced the cover of New York magazine accompanied by the headline “The Bachelor Billionaire.”
A few weeks before Epstein died in his prison cell while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges, The New York Times published (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/0....7/25/business/jeffre an eye-opening exposé detailing Wexner’s ties to Epstein. The report revealed, among other things, that Wexner was Epstein’s only publicly known billionaire client; that Epstein had acquired his Manhattan townhouse, private jet (later dubbed the “Lolita Express”), and other properties from Wexner at a heavy discount; that Wexner allegedly waited 18 months to cut ties with Epstein after he was busted for child prostitution in 2006; and that an Oregon attorney general’s investigation said that Victoria’s Secret had directly aided Epstein’s legal defense in 2006, voluntarily providing intel against one of Epstein’s accusers, who had worked for Victoria’s Secret.
“After the second arrest, it became increasingly clear that Wexner was one of his biggest clients, and so much of Epstein’s wealth came from the work he did for Wexner,” says Matt Tyrnauer, director of Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons. “Then, more troubling details emerged—including that he had power of attorney that gave him access to vast amounts of Wexner’s wealth.”
Indeed, in a highly unusual move, Wexner granted Epstein power of attorney in 1991 that the Times reported “enabled Mr. Epstein to hire people, sign checks, buy and sell properties and borrow money” on Wexner’s behalf, and that Epstein was granted “full power and authority to do and perform every act necessary” for him. Wexner also told (https://www.vanityfair.com/new....s/2003/03/jeffrey-ep Vanity Fair in 2003 that Epstein was “very smart with a combination of excellent judgment and unusually high standards. Also, he is always a most loyal friend.”
