From my interview (not yet published) with Zhukov Konstantin Viktorovich, chief medical officer of Donetsk ambulance services:
"The petal mine is an anti-personnel mine that is banned almost everywhere in the world. It's in a plastic case, with a liquid fuse that explodes when pressed. The force of the explosion is enough to blow off a leg. In fact, that's what they're designed for. Since there is no metal there, they are practically not detected by mine detectors. They are green, so they are very hard to see in the grass, foliage. This mine is against the civilians. 2 kg causes an explosion, after which a person is left without a leg. In the vast majority of cases the foot cannot be restored. The foot just turns into minced meat. Amputation only."
