We should be careful about insisting people need to be going to "church" in this day and age, where the (so called) churches are run by and filled with demons and wicked spirits. I was not raised with God in my home. I picked up a Bible when I was 14. It was from reading that Bible that I developed a relationship with God. By 19 I was convinced that I needed to go to "church". I walked out of every single one of them shaking my head, because what I saw happening in those "churches" was not what I had learned in the Bible. I saw people flopping around on the floor like fish out of water. People screaming. I saw high church members flirting and even married members flirting in secret. I heard doctrines being preached that taught people to love money and the list goes on. Not to be argumentative (because I really don't like when people squabble over small things relating to the gospel), but when I come across people who are genuinely interested in knowing more about the Lord, I help them and encourage them to start with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I teach them about prayer and how to pray. I explain how prayer has helped me. And I pray with them. THIS, to me is "CHURCH". When two or more come together - yes even on the Internet. Back in the day the church wrote letters. They didn't have to be together in a room to maintain their church. We are the Church. Church is not 4 walls and a steeple. Church is God's people. The churches these days are an absolute joke. Babes will not not recognise the wolves running them and will potentially be led straight to the slaughter. I wouldn't even MENTION "church" to anyone who wants to know the Lord. And don't even get me started in Roman Catholicism. That's an abomination of a "church"! Again, I'm not trying to argue. I just feel really strongly about making anyone feel like they have to go to "church" in this day and age. I feel like better advice is to find other spirit filled Christians or leaders, and pray with them. I'm 46.
