Taiwan Let Down: Island considering options after US delays Howitzer delivery

The island's Def. Ministry is weighing up alternatives after Washington informed Taipei a "crowded production line" meant there was a delay on delivering the artillery system.

The US confirmed the sale of 40 medium self-propelled Howitzers to Taiwan last year (due in 2023), for a sum of $750MN - now it's reportedly looking like 2026 at the earliest.

Reuters says Taiwan is considering other Lockheed Martin launchers, but with America ramping up support and supply for Ukraine it's unclear what's available.

The US has consistently encouraged Taiwan to boost its defenses to thwart any aggressive moves from China, but the Biden Admin seems to have other priorities.
