On April 28, 2022, the China-Pacific Island Countries Cooperation Center on Climate Change was officially opened in Liaocheng, Shandong Province. Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng attended the opening ceremony by video and delivered a speech. Li Ganjie, Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Zhou Naixiang, Governor of Shandong Province, Qiu Qiwen, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment, Willy Tokataake, Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy of Kiribati, Mona Ainu, Minister of Natural Resources of Niue, Samo Ambassadors from Asia, Tonga, Federated States of Micronesia, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Fiji and Vanuatu in China attended the meeting.
