Your integrity in business is everything. It's everything for your current and pontential future clients but more importantly, it is everything for you. You know when you are not living authentically and in your truth.
From day one of starting a business, I new that I would need to make tough decisions to keep in line with my values. When I had my recruitment and training business in 2004, I had a strict policy of working only with businesses that I felt treated employees well. This meant turning away lucrative deals that didn't align with my values.
About a week ago I got a linkedin request to connect with a person and I agreed to connect. This morning I got a message saying that because we had been connected for so long that he has a contact for me that he thinks would be of value to connect and he had messaged this person in on the message. This person then says hi and asks to schedule a time to talk. These 2 people work together and the business is helping people grow their networks.
Three words, Dirty sales tactics.
People are smarter than that and the whole transaction has definately concreted the fact that I would never use their business. A business that uses deceit as a form of reeling in new clients. No thanks.
Have you ever experienced dirty sales tactics and if so, how did it make you feel?
