Effort is not a measure of performance, but it is a measure of tension and illness.
It is easy to come up with an idea, and focusing attention on that idea does not require any expenditure of energy either. The realisation of the idea, i.e. the main work, takes place in the realm of the unconscious and conscious, in those processes, that is, where just as little inappropriate expenditure of energy can be detected as in the materially conscious realm. The least possible application of force occurs precisely where ideas are realised, namely in the unconscious and conscious. The unconscious life functions are in operation throughout life, day and night, uninterruptedly, without any expenditure of energy – or only with minimal expenditure of energy.

Die Anstrengung ist kein Mass für eine Leistung, wohl aber ein Mass für Verkrampfung und Krankheit.
Mit Leichtigkeit kann man eine Idee hervorrufen, wobei dann das Lenken der Aufmerksamkeit auf diese Idee ebenfalls keine Kraftaufwendung erfordert. Die Verwirklichung der Idee, also die Hauptarbeit, geschieht im Bereich des Unbewussten und Bewussten, in dessen Vorgängen also, wo ebensowenig irgendwelche unzweckmässige Kraftaufwendungen festzustellen sind wie im materiell bewussten Bereich. Gerade dort gibt es die geringstmögliche Kraftanwendung, wo sich die Ideen verwirklichen, nämlich im Unbewussten und Bewussten. Die unbewussten Lebensfunktionen sind das ganze Leben lang, Tag und Nacht, ununterbrochen in Betrieb ohne jegliche Kraftaufwendung – oder nur mit minimaler Kraftaufwendung.
