A recent study evaluated 369 commercial essential oil combinations for their support of healthy respiratory function during respiratory infections. Combined essential oils showed a synergistic antimicrobial effect, reduced toxicity, and improved anti-inflammatory properties. Five combinations were the most promising, including cypress/tea tree, hyssop/rosemary, marjoram/tea tree, oregano/tea tree, and myrtle/tea tree. These combinations can be diffused, steam inhaled, or diluted and applied to the chest to support open airways and healthy respiratory system function.
