At least seven code reds have been declared for Victoria's ambulance service this year alone.
Victoria's embattled ambulance service has declared another "code red" after buckling under high demand.
The emergency procedure was implemented around 2am on Sunday and lasted one and a half hours, during which Metropolitan Melbourne residents were urged not to call for help unless in a serious condition.
Staff were forced to operate at limited capacity, while restricted access to triple-zero meant some calls were potentially unanswered.
