If the power goes out for a substantial amount of time, are you prepared?
This would mean no access to the following;
Water, Food, Cooking, Petrol, Lighting, Refrigeration, Air conditioning (heat/cold), Waste disposal, Communications - could you charge your phone?
There are many things you can do to prepare for such things as having alternative cooking, water sources, transport, methods to store food, knowledge to dispose of waste etc. I think this will be the year due to weather and biblical events to consider if you are prepared for what could transpire. I will post some helpful links and pages below. Feel free to add any tips.

Other tips are; 1) When we cook mince we than wash it under really hot tap water to get rid of all the fat. It can then be used for spaghetti etc 2) We tend to dry slow and long , turning every 2-3 hours 3) ease up on herbs and spices as they tend to become more intense when the meal is dehydrated

Vacuum packing them is super easy. Always good to have a bit of jerky on hand. Once you buy the equipment cheaper and nicer to do it yourself. A US site but its got good info. There are lot of prepper groups on FB as well but I find unless they are well moderated they are filled with trolls denying the Agenda rolling out right now. Its a good idea to get bulk supplies. Get food grade buckets from Bunnings and store things that you can use and replenish as they are used thereby keeping a good supply of fresh long term items. Things like pasta, flour, dried pulses, nuts, oats, rice, bulk maple syrup, soy sauce, salt ( used for preserving as well), sprouts, herbs, snacks and dried fruit. You can buy these things in bulk and you will find they end up being cheaper than your weekly shop so a bit of any outlay at first but longer term very cost effective. Preparing a way to try and hunt food is also a good idea. If you don't know how to fish take it up. Have things on hand that you may only use now and then but come a survival situation might be very much needed. Fishing nets, crab pots, spears, bait traps, archery equipment and learn to do simple things like catching or sourcing bait. https://www.bcf.com.au/fishing I think a gill net is better if SHTF unless you are well practiced using the other throw nets.

Many sites to source these things. I love this show seeing how people really cope putting things into action. If the power goes down and communications, some say that the platform SIGNAL was developed by the US military and runs via satellite networks. Its a messaging service so may work if other systems are down so long as your phone is charged of course. I recently purchased a solar phone charger at Aldi. I have a CB radio for the car and want to invest in a ham radio but my concern is an EMP so I will also purchase a metal garbage can to house them in, in case that eventuates. https://signal.org/en/
