Retirement is just a word pertaining to the government. There comes an age where people who've paid taxes all their life can slow down and be assured an income to they don't have to work themselves into the ground. I'm all for that. But retirement in any other, way shape or form is absolutely ridiculous. I think the word "retirement" is the death of a lot of people. The idea that one hits a certain age and then can't be productive, make an income or otherwise do what the hell they want to do when it comes to productivity and finance is ridiculous. This is why when governments put restrictions on how much someone can earn when they're on a pension pisses me off. I mean if someone is a millionaire, fair enough. They probably don't need the government crumbs. But for most regular people - the vast majority, the government should just piss off and let them be. If a "retired" person is able to make a few grand here and there doing what makes them happy, let them have their pension too. Even a full time income! The politicians get their bloomin' pensions and they're all loaded by the time they "retire". But back to "retirement" as an age limit on being useful and productive. It's absurd. I'm never going to retire. My retirement will be with my last breath. If I make it to 96 - God willing I'll be healthy, because your health is your wealth, but I can see myself still trying to be productive. I'll still try to be useful, build up dreams - even if it's just to help guide the next generation to build theirs. But at the end of the day, remember this: No one is getting off this earth alive. And no one is taking anything with them - except the contents of their heart. We'll all stand before the Lord and we'll be asked to reveal that content. And what ever we're able to show is what will dictate our standing in the TRUE and eternal retirement. Just sayin'..
