Regardless of your knowledge, or perceptions of police, their authenticity or actual lawfulness.. regardless of any understandings that you, your neighbours or serving police have, nothing exempts nor excuses officers from basic decency and honouring the duty of care they are entrusted with by the people.
Police can ONLY police the community by consent, meaning.. by sheer ratio of police to public, their job is undoable unless the vast majority are compliant and consenting.
That consent is vital to an orderded society, BUT is given when the vast majority see the conduct of police as honourable.
To my former colleagues, revisit the Statement of Values often, they are your guide as well as your lawful obligation with which to comply.
