My statement for the 2nd of March 2022. What happened transpired between 2pm and 5pm approx. As I got to Parliament grounds with family, I proceeded up the steps towards the barricade side near the Unity Wall recording. I then proceeded down to the grounds towards the centre just passed the Kamatua tent, from there the Police had already formed lines of riot Police by the Music tent and Admin tent was totally gone. From then the Police started moving in formation towards tents breaking them up and ripping them out of the ground as they moved along. I could hear people still inside tents while Police roughhoused them. There was a repetitive message over speaker to leave the grounds or be liable to arrest, trespassing for our safety. The line moved further as then I recorded people throwing projectiles and caught out 2 in military fatigues and one small Maori guy in a helmet which is recorded in my content whom assaulted me while recording. Then LRAD devices were being used as I caught it on camera, the line moved us further back towards the Kamatua tent, from then a fire broke out, filming I went towards it to try catch out provocateurs, one guy warned there were gas bottles as crowds were moving towards the fire, this guy and myself warned to get back as bottles would explode. Then the Police moved further after the fact towards the fire and tents surrounding it, as provocateurs and some protestors were caught up in the emotion threw more projectiles at Police. From there we were all moved back towards the streets and Cenotaph. Recording more as I found fire logs being brought in (catching Chantelle and an associate on camera, no the person was not a provocateur and helped Chantelle get rid of the logs), at this time the fire brigade was called in and they flooded the main fire. Provocateurs at this time grabbed anything they could get their hands on and continued to throw projectiles, Police moving towards the front gate to Parliament, as Police protected themselves with shields. Another fire was set on the hill under a tree, as fire fighters doused that fire, there happened to be another fire lit under the tree near the front gate. Police all the while using kettling tactics, and also real protestors started to leave. More Police were called on the concrete blockade, and by 5pm my family and I left. I did not condone any violence on both sides. It is clear there were Antifa infiltrators that escalated the situation, possibly also military or police provocateurs too. It also looks like that Australian Police were brought in, evident by the different riot gear and helmets being used (unconfirmed).
