How do I get rid of the Chat section? ..

How do I get rid of the "Chat" section? It's taking up a quarter of the right hand side of my screen.

I discovered if I hold my iPad in landscape I get a full screen and can see all the posts instead of a 1/4 hidden by the chat bar in portrait.
