Goblet of Truth «- Chapter 4
In the name of the truth of the
laws and recommendations
of the primal power (Creation)
26) Those amongst you, man and woman, who are connected to one another in a bond (marriage) in truth, equitableness (fairness) and in reckoning, it is not permitted for you to appropriate the goods and chattels and wealth of the other party against their will, neither shall you withhold the goods and wealth of the other party unlawfully or take away a part of it; and whatever you have given to one another shall not be demanded back, even if you are harmed by disgracefulness (badness) or if you break your bond, because a gift (present) is given in good memory that, given at its time, has its value and cannot be taken back, therefore demanding it back is the same as theft.

26) Ihr unter euch, Mann und Weib, die ihr der Wahrheit, der Billigkeit (Gerechtigkeit) und der Rechenschaft einander im Bündnis (Ehe) zugetan seid, es ist euch nicht erlaubt, gegen den Willen des anderen euch dessen Hab und Gut und Reichtum anzueignen, noch sollt ihr die Güter und den Reichtum des anderen widerrechtlich zurückhalten oder einen Teil davon wegnehmen; und was ihr einander gegeben habt, das sollt ihr nicht zurückfordern, auch dann nicht, wenn ihr durch Schändlichkeit (Schlechtigkeit) geharmt werdet oder wenn ihr euer Bündnis auflöst, denn ein Angebinde (Geschenk) wird gegeben in gutem Gedenken, das, zu seiner Zeit gegeben, seinen Wert hat und nicht zurückgenommen werden kann, also ein Zurückfordern gleichsam einer Dieberei ist.
